Where has the year gone? It is already December and many of us are consumed by the Christmas season. Of course wine is woven into many holiday traditions in a variety of forms.  Whether you celebrate with sparkling wine, gløg or gluhwein we are dedicating this edition to an exploration of cultural tradition and seasonal drinks. Wine Tourist Magazine will literally take you around the world as we examine a few of the regional favorites.

To begin, Chris Boiling takes a look at ten of the great European holiday markets where you can enjoy a hot cup of mulled wine. Remaining in Europe, Steve McCall shows us around Copenhagen during the holiday season. Kristy Wenz gives us context and a recipe for German Stollen, which happens to be my favorite holiday cake. Then Allison Levine introduces us to Brachetto, a sparkling wine from Italy’s Southern Monferrato. Benoît Lefèvre then tours us through the lush countryside of Kent to discover the wonders of a few award-winning English sparklers.

So there is a lot to look at in the December edition of Wine Tourist Magazine. Please continue to browse and feel free to let us know, if there is something you want us to cover. We will do our best to continue taking you to the entire world of wine in 2017.

From there, Chris Boiling takes us around the world in eight grapes. Chris tells us how we can explore the world this holiday season without leaving out couch. We come to a stop in the new world, where Paula Theotonio introduces us to the sparkling wines of Brazil. Then further north, Allison Levine asks several of her sommelier friends to share a few of their sparkling wine recommendations.

Of course there is more. Michael Green is back this month with another series of his brilliant WineToons. We are also sharing photographs from a number of our readers as part of our ongoing“Be a #winetourist” series.
